And one more thing (a detail, which maybe you forgot): rescue team members have always the rescue team badge at theirselves, which should have made Mio suspicious about the passed out Riolu girl (like she could think that she(Zander) has stolen Zander's team badge, or something). Or if she didn't find it and thinks she's a foreigner, Zander could remember that it's because he had left his badge in his room and Mio couldn't identify him. I hope you could follow all this.^^
I'm not trying to talk into your story. Maybe you've also thought of this. I'm just trying to give you good ideas at the start, which could make the flow of the story more rational and complex
